Unless you've been on a social media diet in these last few weeks, you would have caught wind of the rather exorbitant cost of replacing a hybrid battery in a Mercedes-Benz E300 BlueTEC Hybrid or S400h. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has taken measures to assuage the fears of owners and would be owners, by announcing two critical prices.
For those looking at long term or second-hand ownership, you'll be pleased to know that the prices for the batteries have dropped to RM 50,000 and RM 65,000 for the E300 BlueTEC hybrid and S400h respectively. This is quite nearly half of what was originally quoted in various social media posts.
But more important than that is a new extended warranty program for the hybrid batteries in these vehicles. For just RM 2,688, owners can extend the warranty of these components for an additional four years, whether it's the E300 BlueTEC Hybrid or the S400h. The extended warranty covers 100% of the cost associated with repairing or replacing the hybrid battery for up to eight years, or 180,000 km - whichever comes first.
