Perodua Cuts Aruz Delivery Times Down To Just 1 MonthBerita Kereta
Of all the problems a car company can face, having demand exceed supply is a good one to have. Perodua first faced this with the third generation Myvi, with demand far exceeding their predictions and forcing them to work overtime to crank out the top-spec 1.5 AV variants as fast as their factory could go. More recently, their Aruz SUV has been facing this issue - with wait times starting at between 2 and 2.5 months, finally tapering down to 1 month as of August.
In the first six months of 2019, Perodua managed to move 17,989 units of the Aruz - no small feat for a model that isn't exactly a core product for the company. This puts total sale on par with last year's figures at 140,900 units sold across their entire range of vehicles. With this, Perodua is on track to hitting their 2019 sales target of 235,000 units, or a 3.4% increase from 2018's figure of 227,234 units.
“In terms of comparison, the months of June, July and August last year saw a “tax holiday” resulting from the elimination of the Goods and Services Tax or GST by the government. Notwithstanding the circumstance, we are fortunate that our performance so far is comparable to the “tax holiday” impact” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.
