WTCA begins export of CKD left-hand drive GAC GS3 Emzoom to Vietnam

WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd (WTCA) has commenced its first export of the locally assembled left-hand-drive GAC GS3 Emzoom from its Segambut plant to Vietnam.

WTCA, the official distributor and assembler of GAC vehicles in Malaysia, has been assembling the right-hand-drive GS3 Emzoom for the local market since April 2024.

Witnessed by GAC Group president Xia Xianqing, the line-off ceremony marks a significant milestone in WTCA and GAC International’s shared vision of positioning Malaysia as a strategic manufacturing and export hub for the ASEAN region.

According to WTCA, the export programme reflects its commitment to supporting Malaysia’s National Automotive Policy (NAP) while strengthening regional industrial collaboration, supply-chain connectivity and cross-border economic integration within ASEAN.

To meet export requirements for left-hand-drive markets, the Segambut plant underwent several upgrades, including enhancements to specific body jigs.

The programme also involves close collaboration with Malaysian vendors under WTCA’s localisation initiative, further strengthening the domestic automotive supply-chain ecosystem.

WTCA said the initiative is expected to generate additional employment opportunities, accelerate skills development, support local engineering expertise and encourage broader participation by Malaysian vendors in regional automotive exports.

Like the Malaysian-market model, the left-hand-drive GS3 Emzoom is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 177 PS and 270 Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Beyond the GS3 Emzoom, WTCA and GAC International are exploring opportunities to introduce additional CKD new energy vehicles (NEVs) for both the domestic market and other ASEAN export markets.

Further details on export destinations and future model line-ups will be announced as plans progress.

Currently, WTCA offers four models in Malaysia:

  • GS3 Emzoom - RM103,800 to RM126,800
  • Emkoo - RM123,800 to RM133,800
  • M8 PHEV - RM328,800 to RM388,800
  • Aion Y Plus - RM119,800 to RM135,800
