A very rare find and a diamond in the rough, with only less than 10 examples in the country bought brand new from Audi Malaysia, which makes this extremely rare and desirable. Asking for RM530,000*.

In 2006, Audi launched the R8 to rival Porsche’s 911. A mid-engine supercar with Lamborghini’s Gallardo chassis which was much loved by many car enthusiast. Back then, the V8 was somewhat underpowered and could not deliver the full potential the car was designed to be. Hence in 2009, the 525hp V10 version was introduced and became the flagship model, however despite is supercar pedigree performance, it was still somehow handicapped by its single-clutch automated manual option even though the clutch has been upgraded.

Fast forward in mid 2012, Audi introduced the new range-topping R8 with a minor facelift. It came with the iconic LED head and taillights, a new revised front and rear bumper, a badge that now has the ‘RS’ red, while some internal engine hardware improvement that has been revised around with a larger air intake manifold to further boost its performance. But the most significant feature was the inception of the first lightning-fast 7-Speed S-Tronic Dual Clutch transmission, providing superior quick gear shifts and seamless power delivery unlike before. Feel the connection with the road and revel in the precision of every gear change at a split of a second.

In the heart of the R8 was the 550hp and 540Nm 5.2L V10 masterpiece engine, delivering raw power and exhilarating performance right behind the driver’s seat. The very same iconic engine and transmission can still be found in the second generation Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracan, which makes it a legendary class till this very day.

Driving the R8 on day one felt like driving a very fast car indeed. In Sport, zero to 100km/h takes 3.3 seconds, which is fast even in today’s standard. Drive the car a few more days and suddenly 550hp doesn't seem like enough. It's so competent, so trustworthy in the way it delivers that power to all four corners, that the acceleration starts to feel normal. Even the rpm limit comes up too early; the large engine revs so willingly that you want to keep going into five digits. At the same time, you're always aware that the car is too much for the road – it's crying out for a track in order to run free.
