Instead, it's in the UK. Making its global debut at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the pure-electric supercar marks more than just the arrival of a new flagship. It is also a statement of intent as the Chinese automaker ramps up its ambitions in Europe. The choice of venue is no coincidence. Widely regarded as one of the biggest celebrations of automotive performance, the Goodwood Festival of Speed brings together some of the world's most recognisable names, including Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren, Aston Martin and Lotus. By launching the Denza Z here, BYD is placing its latest technological showcase directly alongside the brands it hopes to compete with. More importantly, it puts the Denza Z in front of an audience that has traditionally celebrated Europe's finest performance cars, making it a bold statement of BYD's global ambitions. The timing is equally important. Goodwood also marks Denza's official entry into the UK, one of Europe's most influential automotive markets. Unveiling the Z here not only introduces the premium brand to the European buyers, but also puts its technological flagship in front of one of the world's most knowledgeable performance car audiences. The Denza Z will be available in Coupe and Spider body styles, alongside a Racing variant developed for track use. While the road-going models feature a cleaner design, the Racing version adopts a more aggressive aerodynamic package, complete with a prominent rear wing and additional performance-focused upgrades. Power comes from a tri-motor all-wheel drive setup comprising one electric motor at the front axle and two at the rear. Combined output stands at 1,180 kW, equivalent to 1,604 PS, and 1,210 Nm of torque. Denza claims the Z accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 2.2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 305 km/h, making it one of the quickest production BEVs currently available. The Racing variant, on paper, pushes that century down even further to less than 2 seconds. Energy comes from a 76 kWh Blade Battery, delivering a WLTP-rated range of up to 409 km for the Coupe, 400 km for the Spider, and 380 km for the Racing variant. Thanks to its 1,000 V electrical architecture, the battery can also be recharged from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes when connected to BYD's new 1,500 kW Flash Charging system. Beyond outright performance, the Denza Z also serves as a showcase for several of BYD Group's latest technologies. Among them is the DiSus-M intelligent body control system, which uses magnetorheological dampers capable of adjusting suspension damping in milliseconds according to road conditions and driving inputs. The supercar also debuts BYD's steer-by-wire system, replacing the conventional mechanical steering linkage with an electronic setup. Working together with rear-wheel steering, the system is designed to deliver sharper responses at higher speeds while improving manoeuvrability during low-speed driving. In the UK, the Denza Z is priced from £142,900 (around RM 781,000), with deliveries expected to begin later this year. Whether the Denza Z eventually makes its way to Malaysia remains to be seen. However, by choosing Goodwood for its global debut instead of a traditional home-market launch, BYD has made its intentions clear. For BYD, the Denza Z is more than just its fastest production car yet. By bringing its latest performance flagship to one of the world's biggest automotive stages, the company is signalling that it believes its technology is ready to compete with Europe's most established performance car makers.
