2025 Zeekr 7X Officially Launched in Malaysia from RM179k – Up to 646 PS and 615 km Range

After making its first local appearance at the 2025 Malaysia Autoshow in May, the Zeekr 7X has now been officially launched here with a grand event held at the base of the KL Tower. As detailed before, the electric SUV arrives expectedly fully imported from China in 3 variants, with prices starting at RM179,800 for the Standard RWD, RM190,800 for the Long Range RWD, and RM226,800 for the Performance AWD.

Notably, the final pricing is between RM2,200 and RM4,200 lower than the figures initially indicated during its preview earlier this year, and in that time, Zeekr Malaysia has confirmed that more than 1,000 bookings have already been collected prior to its official launch.

Positioned squarely against rivals such as the Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7, and Xpeng G6, the 7X aims to carve out a space in Malaysia’s fast-expanding premium EV market. With anticipation running high, the first customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in mid-September, though newer buyers should expect a waiting period of around three to four months.

In terms of dimensions, the 7X measures 4,787 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,650 mm tall, and rides on a 2,900 mm wheelbase, putting it squarely in the midsize SUV segment. Underpinning the SUV is Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, which brings an 800V electrical system and a die-cast aluminium rear structure that Zeekr claims improves both rigidity and cabin quietness.

In terms of its electric powertrain options, the Standard and Long Range models share a rear-mounted electric motor producing 421 PS and 440 Nm, allowing a 0–100 km/h sprint in six seconds. The range-topping Performance model introduces a dual-motor setup with a combined 646 PS and 710 Nm, cutting the acceleration time to just 3.8 seconds.

Battery options differ across the lineup. The entry-level Standard Range is equipped with a 75 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) pack offering up to 480 km on the WLTP cycle. The Long Range and Performance both use a larger 100 kWh nickel manganese cadmium (NMC) battery. With the single-motor configuration, the Long Range is capable of up to 615 km, the highest among the trio, while the Performance achieves a slightly lower 543 km due to its higher output.

Charging performance is one of the 7X’s highlights. All versions can accept up to 22 kW AC, but the smaller-battery Standard Range also benefits from the fastest DC charging rate of up to 450 kW, enabling a 10–80% top-up in as little as 10 and a half minutes. The Long Range and Performance variants charge at a maximum of 420 kW DC, requiring around 16 minutes for the same charging window. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality at 3.3 kW is standard across the lineup.

On the equipment front, the Standard Range comes generously specified with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, a panoramic glass roof, leatherette upholstery, powered front and rear seats, a 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster, a 16-inch 3.5K infotainment display powered by a Qualcomm 8295 chip, 10 speakers, and three-zone climate control. It also provides no fewer than 36 cabin storage spaces, frameless doors, and an interior occupant monitoring camera.

The Long Range builds on that with more luxurious appointments, including ventilated and massaging front seats, a power-adjustable steering wheel, dual 50-watt wireless phone chargers, an augmented reality head-up display stretching 36.21 inches, and an upgraded Zeekr Sound Pro audio system with 21 speakers.

For those seeking the ultimate package, the Performance variant brings unique features such as adaptive air suspension with continuous damping control (just don’t call it CDC or Jaecoo might be upset), powered automatic doors, 20-inch wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres, Akebono four-piston brake callipers, Nappa leather upholstery, powered rear sunshades, and Zeekr’s standout “Stargate” front LED light curtain. This futuristic panel integrates 1,831 programmable LEDs, capable of displaying animated patterns, with text functionality expected to be enabled later via OTA updates pending regulatory approval.

Safety is also comprehensive, with 7 airbags and a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control, lane centring, lane keeping assist, automatic lane change, blind spot monitoring, cross-traffic alerts, automated parking, and a 360-degree camera system with transparent chassis view.

Colour choices include Crystal White, Onyx Black, Tech Grey, and Forest Green, while Brook Blue with a silver roof is exclusive to the Performance. All models come with a black interior as standard, but the top-spec variant can also be ordered with a distinctive purple-and-white cabin. A set of 21-inch forged wheels is available as an optional upgrade.

Zeekr backs the 7X with a 5-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year/160,000 km high-voltage battery warranty. Buyers will also receive a complimentary 22 kW wallbox charger, solar tint, and one year’s worth of connected services access. Early adopters are also in for an additional perk, as the first 500 customers will be given a plug-in 8-litre in-car fridge as part of the launch campaign.

With its aggressive pricing and extensive list of premium features, the Zeekr 7X enters the Malaysian market as one of the most compelling new EVs, setting the stage for an even fiercer battle among midsize electric SUVs.

There's just something about cars. It's a conveyance, it's a liability, it's a tool; but it can also be a source of joy, pride, inspiration and passion. It's much like clothes versus fashion. And like the latter, the pursuit of perfection never ends.
