Geely Borui Updated For 2017, Could Go On Sale 14 July

Geely's update for the range-topping Borui sedan was just previewed in China ahead of its official debut. The update aims to improve the Borui's exterior and interior design, on top of powertrain improvements.

Looking at the exterior, Geely has given the Borui new front and rear bumpers, with the rear muffler tips now better integrated into the bottom half of the bumper. The tail light design has also been improved over the predecessor. Elsewhere, the updated Geely Borui now comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, replacing the predecessor's 16-inch units.

Inside, the new Geely Borui receives a revised steering wheel and interior trim updates. The old 8-inch resistive touch screen has been replaced by a newer 10.2-inch capacitive-type touch screen. On top of the larger touch screen, Geely has also updated the infotainment system, now with Geely 3.0 operating system with G-Netlink, 4G connectivity with in-car WiFi, GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay and Baidu CarLife. The latter is developed by Baidu as an alternative to Android Auto as Google's services are blocked in China.

In terms of powertrain, the Geely Borui continues to offer two engine choices. The first is a naturally-aspirated 2.4-litre petrol engine that does 162 PS and 210 Nm mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Sitting above the 2.4-litre engine is Geely's second-generation G-Power 1.8-litre turbocharged engine that's paired to an all-new six-speed automatic transmission. This engine is good for 184 PS and 300 Nm, a good 21 PS and 50 Nm increase over its predecessor. The 3.5-litre V6 could be dropped once the new model is introduced.

According to xcar, Geely is expected to introduce the updated Borui on 14 July.
