Jetour T1 teased in Malaysia ahead of debut – smaller sibling to T2, 1.5T and 2.0T engines

Jetour Auto Malaysia has released a teaser showing the side profile of an upcoming SUV. While the post does not explicitly name the model, the silhouette strongly points to the Jetour T1, essentially a smaller yet similarly rugged-looking sibling to the T2.

According to the teaser, the T1 will make its first appearance tomorrow (April 30) via a livestream on Jetour Auto Malaysia’s official social media channels. The public will also be able to view the SUV in person at MARii’s Penang Autoshow 2026, taking place from May 1 to 3.

In terms of design, the T1 closely mirrors the T2, particularly at the front and along the sides, making the two models difficult to distinguish at a glance. At the rear, however, the T1 sets itself apart by omitting the tailgate-mounted space-saver spare tyre box seen on the T2, while also featuring a squarer tail lamp design.

Dimension-wise, the T1 measures 4,705 mm in length, 1,967 mm in width and 1,843 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. This makes it 80 mm shorter, 39 mm narrower and 27 mm lower than the T2, while retaining the same wheelbase.

Inside, the T1 follows a similar design direction as the T2, adopting a chunky dashboard layout with slight differences in detailing. The cabin is dominated by a large central infotainment display, complemented by a smaller digital instrument cluster, as well as slim air-conditioning vents, which are positioned horizontally across the centre and vertically at the outer edges.

Under the bonnet, the T1 is offered with multiple petrol powertrain options in its home market. These include a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 184 PS/290 Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels, as well as a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit delivering 254 PS/390 Nm, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

In certain export markets such as Qatar, the T1 is also offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain called the i-DM, delivering a combined output of 335 PS and 530 Nm of torque.

There is no indication of pricing at this stage, but the T1 is expected to be positioned below the T2, which is currently priced at RM157,669.20 (on-the-road, without insurance).

While I wouldn’t label myself a hardcore petrolhead, I’ve always had a deep appreciation for cars and the simple joy of driving. For me, getting behind the wheel is a therapeutic escape.
