Jetour T2 in RHD guise seen ahead of Q1 2026 launch - bookings open, RM179k est price with 2.0T AWD powertrain, Level 2 ADAS

The upcoming Jetour T2 has made its first right-hand-drive (RHD) debut at the 2025 Auto Car Expo (ACE) at Setia City Convention Centre this past weekend, marking a major step toward its Malaysian launch. This rugged-looking SUV was previously seen at the Malaysia Autoshow in left-hand-drive form, but the version on display most recently is the one destined for local roads.

Now open for booking with a RM1,000 fee, the Jetour T2 is set for a Q1 2026 Malaysian launch, carrying an estimated price of RM178,888. That easily makes it Jetour’s most expensive model yet—well above the VT9, which tops out at RM124,350, and shares its mechanical package with the yet more affordable Dashing. Initially arriving as a CBU import, local CKD assembly will follow at Berjaya Assembly’s Johor plant.

Visually, the T2 channels serious Land Rover-esque or Ford Bronco-like off-road vibes with its boxy proportions and adventure-ready design. Signature touches include square LED headlights, a bold grille with illuminated Jetour lettering, upright windows, a side-hinged tailgate, and a faux external spare wheel cover that hides a storage compartment. Despite its rugged looks that might imply a ladder-frame chassis, the T2 rides on a unibody platform, balancing comfort and toughness.

Dimensionally, it’s 4,785 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,880 mm tall, making it larger than a Honda CR-V and just shy of the Hyundai Santa Fe’s footprint. Inside, the T2 embraces the chunky, metallic aesthetic typical of modern Chinese off-roaders - the GWM Tank 300 comes readily to mind.

The dashboard features sturdy-looking trim, exposed bolt details, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and dual digital displays—a 10.25-inch driver cluster and a 15.6-inch infotainment screen.

When it launches here, expect features such as dual power-adjustable front seats with memory, faux leather upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 12-speaker Sony sound system (Jetour is a Chery Group product, after all), 360-degree cameras, and six airbags, among other highlights.

Under the bonnet lies a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine borrowed from the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, making a familiar 254 PS and 390 Nm, paired with a 7-speed wet-type dual-clutch transmission that sends power to all four wheels via the AWD system.

Beyond the T2’s initial launch, Jetour is also said to be planning to bring in a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant that combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a 224 PS electric motor and fairly large battery options that offer up to an impressive 161km of pure EV range.

Also notably, the T2 will be Jetour’s first model in Malaysia to feature Level 2 semi-autonomous driving, with adaptive cruise control, lane centring, blind spot monitoring, and autonomous emergency braking.

There's just something about cars. It's a conveyance, it's a liability, it's a tool; but it can also be a source of joy, pride, inspiration and passion. It's much like clothes versus fashion. And like the latter, the pursuit of perfection never ends.
