New 2026 GWM Ora 5 HEV previewed at KLIMS - 1.5L turbo hybrid with 1,000km range

GWM Malaysia has previewed the new 2026 GWM Ora 5 HEV here at KLIMS, and you can basically call it the Good Cat's bigger hybrid brother.

Positioned as a compact hybrid crossover, the Ora 5 HEV introduces GWM's latest Hi2 intelligent hybrid technology to the Malaysian market, combining strong performance with impressive fuel efficiency.

Jumping straight into specs, the Ora 5 HEV carries a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine paired with an electric motor with a combined power output of 223 PS and 475 Nm of torque.

Mated to a 2-speed DHT transmission, the Ora 5 HEV can propel from 0-100 km/h in just 7.7 seconds. More interestingly, its total range is said to be able to reach 1,000 km with one full tank thanks to its low fuel consumption rate of 4.4L/100km.

In terms of dimensions, the Ora 5 HEV measures 4,471 mm long, 1,833 mm wide and 1,641 mm tall, with a wheelbase spanning 2,720 mm. This places it within the popular C-segment SUV category, competing against models such as the Honda CR-V and Proton X70.

Inside, the Ora 5 HEV adopts a more premium and tech-focused cabin layout compared to the Good Cat BEV. Taking centre stage is a large 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Tying everything together for the interior is a minimalist dashboard design that also reduces the number of physical controls, contributing to the cabin's clean appearance.

At the moment, GWM Malaysia has yet to announce local pricing or launch timing for the Ora 5 HEV, with the model currently making its first public appearance in Malaysia at KLIMS 2026.
