New F74 2026 BMW 218 Gran Coupe M Sport CKD launched in Malaysia - only 50 units for first allocation, from RM 192,800

The BMW Clubhouse is happening until 19 July 2026, with BMW Malaysia showcasing a portfolio of 17 exciting models. Among them is the new F74 218 Gran Coupe M Sport, which will be offered in a limited run of just 50 units in the first allocation.

As denoted by the '218' badge (now without the 'i' suffix as part of BMW's latest nomenclature), the new model is based on the Sport variant launched in Malaysia back in June 2025.

The biggest difference, of course, is the addition of the M Sport package, which gives the Gran Coupe a noticeably more aggressive appearance with a rear diffuser and 18-inch M light alloy wheels in Y-spoke Style 975M Bicolour.

The car also comes with the Kidney Iconic Glow grille with vertical and diagonal bars, flanked by Adaptive LED headlights with vertical daytime running lights. Also present are vertical front air intakes, Individual High-Gloss Shadowline trim and Exterior Line Satin Aluminium trim. Exterior colour options comprise Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Brooklyn Grey and Portimao Blue.

Inside, the M Sport package brings "Illuminated" Aluminium Graphite interior trim, an M leather steering wheel, an M Anthracite headliner and front sport seats with electric adjustment and memory function. The cabin can be specified with Veganza Perforated upholstery in Black across all exterior colours, or Coral Red exclusively with the Black Sapphire exterior.

Elsewhere, the cabin features a BMW Curved Display comprising a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch control display, running BMW Operating System 9 with QuickSelect. Also included are a Head-Up Display, ambient lighting, and a Harman Kardon HiFi loudspeaker system.

Despite the addition of the sportier kit, the 218 Gran Coupe M Sport is still a 218. That means there are no mechanical changes under the bonnet, with the same 1.5-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine producing 156 PS and 230 Nm of torque.

Power is sent exclusively to the front wheels via a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with paddle shifters, enabling the Gran Coupe to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds before reaching a top speed of 230 km/h.

The M Sport variant does, however, gain Adaptive M Suspension, balancing responsive handling with composed comfort across varying road surfaces while adapting to both driving style and road conditions.

Now, onto the pricing. The 218 Gran Coupe M Sport is priced at RM 192,800, or RM 204,800 with BMW's Service & Repair Inclusive (BSRI) programme included. This pricing applies to the aforementioned first 50 units allocated for Malaysia.

As a refresher, the Sport variant retails at RM 219,800, although it is currently available at a discounted price of RM 173,800 for a limited time.

It is backed by BMW's Service & Repair Inclusive (BSRI) programme, which includes a four-year unlimited mileage warranty, along with four years or 80,000 km of complimentary scheduled servicing.

While I wouldn’t label myself a hardcore petrolhead, I’ve always had a deep appreciation for cars and the simple joy of driving. For me, getting behind the wheel is a therapeutic escape.
