The Star has just reported that following Friday’s Cabinet meeting, a source revealed to news site that the government is “seriously mulling a move to raise toll charges by 30%.”
The brief report also mentioned that up to 16 highways could be affected by the new charges, and it won’t be long before that number climbs to 19.
If implemented, frequent users of the NPE highway who currently pay the RM1.60 charges could end up having to fork out up to RM2.10.
The Star also reported that it remains unclear if the rumoured new charges would be implemented all at once, and be gradually increased in stages.
