Overview When you mention Peugeot, we get mixed reviews from Its quirky design (some call it French Flair), superb engineering, handling to its infamous French electronic gremlins. The pug had its legends like the 308 GTI and 405 both rally championship cars. They make excellent cars for car lovers but had its reputation tainted by reliability problems. Buts it making a strong comeback again with the highly acclaimed 3008 SUV launched recently. In the last decade, Naza was quite succesful selling the 308 and 208 variants to our Malaysian market. I own this pure white Peugeot 308 1.6 THP with Twin Scroll Turbo producing a strong 156hp and 160 torques, had its French tug facelighted 'Graffe' model launched in 2012. Design wise, still sleek, sporty and fresh as if it was launched just last year. Aggresive yet subtle, the countours, at least to me, screams sexiness. With its standard 17 inch low profile tyres it roars speed and aggresion. This 308 attracts both males and female drivers, young or mature. Interior Very sport inside. Mainly black with tactile, rubbery dashboard and chrome trims at the right spots for contrast with firm, supportive fabric seats. Subdued without the red stichings on steering, seats and trims we usually associate with KPop Oppa or Japanese makes that wants to put on a sporty facade. But this is the way i like it. Not loud. With panaromic sunroof, you can gaze the nigt skies whilst listening to the 6 speaker, clear and bassy sound system. Leather wrapped steering wheels with Tiptronic controls. Its a cockpit really, that oozes power and control. Everything is about quality here, the fit and finishes to the materials used- if you live in a colder country that is. My rubber switches for windows, gearknob garnishes are now sticky or craking, because of our Malaysian weather. But luckily the switches are easily replaceable. So Peugeot, please take note here. Performance With its highly acclaimed THP 1.6 Turbo engine (also used by some BMW and Mini models), it delivers both in power and economy. With a torque of 240nm, it pulls you. Combined with its superb ride and handling, its a pleasure to drive. The weighted steering wheel does not feel light at high speeds but gives you the assurance and control. Light enough for manouvering in tight spaces and traffic. Fuel economy is good for this 6 speed tiptronic auto with turbo, i get an average of 12km per litre for mixed city and highway driving. But if you are addicted to the 'Sports' mode that roars and pull, you may get 10-11km per litre. Still not too bad. Safety Comes with 2 airbags and 2 side curatin airbags, EBD, ABS, Bfake Assist and 2 Isofix Safefy packed comparing to some cars of similiar price range of today. Practicality Its a hatchback. But may be longer than some sedans (really). Pretty decent boot to carry 3-4 medium sized luggage trolleys. A singles or family car. Maintainance Service intervals are ecery 10,000km. Averaging RM250 to RM350 each service. Parts are pricier than Japanese or local makes by 20-30%, but the parts if original, should last you another 100,000km of use. I have so far replaced the alternator at RM650, pricey? Yes. But it gives you the pleasure of driving this fine machine. So Should You Buy a Used Peugeot 308? Yes please if you want to own a continental car that is well balanced with power and space. We all know conti cars do not have high resale value, especially so for Peugeot, Citroen (owned by Peugeot PSA Group), Ford. Getting a 308 will range from only RM28-38k now depending on condition and age. So its great value. Foe similiar price range, you can only get an older basic spec Vios, City or never but used Myvi. But the saftey, tech and driving experience is totally different. We all know Japanese cars offer reliability. But this Peugeot gives you ownership satisfaction. My advise to address you concern is this. Allocate 20-30% of the purchase price for any used car, replace the wear and tear parts. Have a throught service of engine oil and fluids, brake pads. Excellent handling and engine performance. But maintenance wise, is definitely higher than local and Japanese cars.

No big problems todate, except interior upholstery falling off. Needs regular service and maintenance. Car body is strong, mileage per litre is reasonable depending on how I drive. Overall a good car

Exterior design high ssfety interior design and very high performance

Great car to drive. Good sound insulation and excellent throttle response. Practical use of space. Needs regular maintenance though. Set aside RM6K every 3 years to service car. No major complaints
