2015 Hyundai Elantra FL Sport Launched: Limited To 999 Units, From RM92k

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has launched its facelifted Elantra in a new Sport guise, which will be limited to just 999 units nationwide.

Starting prices, OTR without insurance, for the 2015 Hyundai Elantra FL Sport edition begin from RM91,928.

So what’s new?

As you can tell, the new Sport Edition is adorned with new body kit: specifically, you can spot new front and rear bumpers and side skirts, dual exhaust tailpipes, and some limited-edition stickers – one of a barcode, even, with a serial number that would run from 001 to 999.

Inside, there’s a 6.2-inch Audio Visual In-Car Entertainment system that offers DVD and Bluetooth functions – it’s RM300 more if you want the optional reverse camera.

Only two colour options are available for the Elantra Sport Edition: Creamy White, and Phantom Black.

Mr Lau Yit Mun, Managing Director of HSDM, said that the company has received numerous requests from customers to include a sport variant in its Elantra product lineup. “The Elantra is our best-selling model as most of our customers are attracted to the Elegant design of the car, its functionality and its performance.

“However, we do have another group of younger car buyers who do like the features that the Elantra offers but would prefer a sportier look, which is the reason why we are launching the Sport Edition. So we hope with the launch of this new sport variant, we will be able to attract the younger generation of motorists who appreciates a modern sporty design.”

Powering the Elantra will be its 1.6-litre MPI Gamma engine, paired with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission, delivering 130PS @ 6,300rpm and 157Nm of torque @ 4,850rpm.

Safety features include Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill-Start Assist Control, and ABS braking.

This brings the total line-up of Hyundai Elantra variants to:

• Elantra FL 1.6 Sport          - RM91, 928           
• Elantra FL 1.6 Executive –RM96, 820
• Elantra FL 1.6 Premium – RM101, 554
• Elantra FL 1.8 Premium – RM115, 616
