New 2026 Omoda C9 PHEV debuts in Malaysia – 537PS, 650Nm, 1.100km range, from RM208,800

The Omoda C9 PHEV has made its official debut in Malaysia, becoming the brand’s new flagship and its most powerful offering yet. Positioned as a high-performance electrified SUV, the model combines strong outputs with long-distance efficiency and a full suite of premium features.

At the heart of the C9 PHEV is Omoda Jaecoo’s Super Hybrid System, which integrates a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with three electric motors. Two motors are mounted on the front axle, while another sits at the rear, giving the SUV all-wheel-drive capability.

Working alongside a 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission, the electrified powertrain produces a combined 537 PS and 650 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4.9 seconds.

Beyond outright performance, the C9 PHEV places strong emphasis on efficiency and usability. It is fitted with a 34.46 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery that supports up to 169 km of pure electric driving range (NEDC cycle).

When factoring in both petrol and electric power, the total range is rated at approximately 1,100 km, with a claimed fuel consumption of just 1.4 L/100 km.

Charging capability is also a key highlight. The plug-in hybrid supports DC fast charging of up to 70 kW, allowing the battery to be replenished from 30-80% in around 25 minutes. For home charging, a 6.6 kW AC onboard charger can complete a 30-100% charge in about five and a half hours.

As the range-topping model, the C9 PHEV is generously equipped. Underneath, it features a Continuous Damping Control suspension system designed to balance ride comfort and handling. Exterior highlights include 20-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic sunroof, reinforcing its premium positioning.

Inside, the cabin adopts a modern, tech-focused layout centred around dual 12.3-inch displays serving as the digital instrument cluster and infotainment interface. The system is paired with a 14-speaker Sony audio setup, while both front and rear occupants benefit from heated and ventilated seats, further enhancing comfort levels.

Safety and driver assistance are addressed through a comprehensive Level 2.5 ADAS package. This includes features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping functions, autonomous emergency braking, and a 540-degree surround view camera system, among others.

For the Malaysian market, the C9 PHEV is offered in a single all-wheel drive variant, priced from RM208,800 on-the-road without insurance. The model is locally assembled in Shah Alam and comes with a 7-year or 200,000 km vehicle warranty.

Additionally, the engine is covered for up to 10 years or 1,000,000 km, while key electrified components such as the battery and motors are backed by a 10-year or 200,000 km warranty.

To mark its introduction, early customers can take advantage of a limited-time launch package running until 30 April 2026, which includes a RM3,000 Duit Raya incentive and a complimentary Vehicle-to-Load connector cable.

For context, the standard petrol-powered Omoda C9 range previously entered the Malaysian market with pricing starting from RM168,800 for the 2WD variant and RM188,800 for the AWD version.
