The full enforcement of mandatory child seat usage in passenger cars from 2019 has not been fully decided, reports The Star.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke commented that his ministry will also review the ruling based on their practicality before implementation.
Mr Anthony also explained that the current government are not bound to follow rulings made by the previous government.
“There are a few rulings which have not been gazetted or enforced, therefore we will need to relook into them. The prior announcements will remain as announcements as no actions had been taken to enforce,” said Anthony Loke during a visit to Malaysian Institute of Road Safety (MIROS) yesterday.
To recap, the Transport Ministry, back in 2015, announced plans to enforce the mandatory child seat usage ruling starting from 2019.
