2026 Suzuki Jimny AllGrip Plus and Rhino Plus debut in Malaysia with ADAS, More Tech from RM158k

Suzuki Cars Malaysia has expanded its iconic mini off-roader range with the introduction of the new Jimny AllGrip Plus and Jimny Rhino Plus, bringing a host of long-awaited safety, convenience and driver assistance upgrades to the beloved rugged 3-door.

These are the latest additions join Suzuki’s local portfolio alongside the recently launched Fronx Sport and the announcement of a price-reduced Fronx Hybrid. Spoiler, both Fronxes (?) use the same not-quite hybrid powertrain.

Back to the Jimny. Priced at RM158,900 for the ‘entry’ AllGrip Plus and RM173,900 for the Jimny Rhino Plus fully imported from Japan, the biggest news lies in the substantial equipment upgrade, a list that for the first time, includes a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), significantly modernising the rugged SUV's safety credentials.

New safety features include Dual Sensor Brake Support II (DSBS II, or AEB in normal terms), Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Weaving Alert, Automatic High Beam and an Emergency Stop Signal function. The Jimny also gains a reverse camera paired with millimetre-wave radar technology, while the airbag count has been increased to six with the addition of side and curtain airbags.

Beyond safety, both Plus variants now come equipped with front and rear parking sensors featuring clearance sonar, electrically folding and heated side mirrors, as well as a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The Rhino Plus builds upon the AllGrip Plus package with a collection of cosmetic styling enhancements aimed at giving the compact off-roader an even more distinctive appearance. Exterior additions include a unique front grille, front bumper under garnish, side under garnish, red front and rear mud flaps, polished 15-inch alloy wheels, and a spare wheel cover featuring the Rhino logo. Mission accomplished.

If that’s not enough, the Rhino Plus can be specified in two-tone finishes such as Kinetic Yellow with Bluish Black Pearl or Chiffon Ivory Metallic with Bluish Black Pearl, available at an additional RM1,000. Single-tone colours include Jungle Green, Medium Grey, Bluish Black Pearl and Pure White Pearl.

Under the skin, however, the formula remains unchanged. Both variants continue to be powered by Suzuki’s proven K15B 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine, producing 102 PS and 130 Nm of torque. Power is delivered through a four-speed automatic transmission and Suzuki’s renowned AllGrip part-time 4-wheel-drive system, complete with a transfer case offering 2H, 4H and 4L modes for varying terrain conditions.

The Jimny's traditional off-road hardware also remains intact, including its ladder-frame chassis construction and rigid axle suspension setup, features that have helped cement its reputation as one of the most capable compact off-roaders on the market.

Inside, occupants are treated to familiar Jimny practicalities, with fabric upholstery, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, electric windows and 50:50 split-folding rear seats. The new 9-inch infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, alongside Bluetooth, USB, auxiliary input and radio functions.

There's just something about cars. It's a conveyance, it's a liability, it's a tool; but it can also be a source of joy, pride, inspiration and passion. It's much like clothes versus fashion. And like the latter, the pursuit of perfection never ends.
