Haval Raptor and Ora 5 HEV to headline GWM Malaysia's KLIMS 2026 showcase?

At the upcoming Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, which opens its doors on 12 June at MITEC, GWM Malaysia will preview two new electrified models alongside its current line-up.

The company has yet to disclose the identities of the duo, but following our earlier speculation after its product roadmap announcement in March, they are likely to be the Haval Raptor and Ora 5.

While unconfirmed, the arrival of these models would align with GWM Malaysia's strategy of showcasing its “multi-brand, multi-powertrain mobility ecosystem” at the motor show. If so, they would become the second and third new GWM models introduced this year, following the launch of the Tank 300 HEV in May.

Like the Tank 300, the Haval Raptor is an SUV with strong off-road credentials. However, unlike the Tank 300's ladder-frame underpinnings, the Raptor adopts a monocoque construction, giving it a more car-like driving character on the road.

In China, the Haval Raptor is offered as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with GWM's Hi4 electric all-wheel-drive system, which uses one electric motor on each axle. This is the same drivetrain found in the Wey G9.

That said, the possibility of a hybrid (HEV) variant cannot be ruled out. GWM could follow a similar strategy to the Tank 500 HEV, which was also developed for export markets. This would allow the Haval Raptor to sit alongside the Tank 300 HEV, Tank 500 HEV and Haval H6 HEV.

As for the Ora 5, it is likely to be offered in HEV guise, featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 150 PS and 240 Nm. Assisting it is a front-mounted electric motor rated at 140 PS and 236 Nm, bringing total system output to 223 PS and 476 Nm.

In Thailand, where it was launched in March this year, the Ora 5 is also available as a battery-electric vehicle (BEV). This version features a front-mounted electric motor producing 204 PS and 260 Nm, paired with a 58.3-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that delivers up to 520 km of range under the NEDC cycle.

Excluding these two potential additions, GWM Malaysia's current portfolio comprises eight models:

  • Haval H6 HEV - RM139,800
  • Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV - RM269,800
  • Tank 300 - RM250,000
  • Tank 300 HEV - RM259,800
  • Tank 500 HEV - RM327,660
  • Ora Good Cat - RM109,800
  • Ora Good Cat GT - RM119,800
  • Ora 07 - RM169,800

While I wouldn’t label myself a hardcore petrolhead, I’ve always had a deep appreciation for cars and the simple joy of driving. For me, getting behind the wheel is a therapeutic escape.
