Mercedes-Benz Previews The Mercedes-AMG E53 Models In Malaysia, Estimated From RM740k

Straight after the announcement of their stellar performance of the first nine months of 2018, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia took the wraps off their latest addition to the E-Class line-up: the Mercedes-AMG E53 4Matic+ model.

The Mercedes-AMG E53 4Matic+ model replaces the previous E43 model. The all-new six-cylinder engine, now in an inline configuration, features an electric compressor as well as a large exhaust gas-driven turbocharger. Additional low-speed performance is aided by a compact electric motor housed between the engine and transmission.

Mercedes-Benz does not combine the output of both systems: the 3.0-litre engine delivers 435 hp and 520 Nm of torque, while the electric motor adds 22 hp and 250 Nm of torque, which the company terms it as EQ Boost. 

All that power and boost is transferred to all four wheels through the AMG Speedshift 9-speed automatic transmission with 4Matic+ fully variable torque distribution. This powertrain thus propels the large sedan from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The recently launched Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 also features this setup and is priced from RM 878,888 (with effect from September 2018)

Moving to the interior, the steering wheel now features an exclusive AMG Performance item. The seat upholstery of the sedan model is wrapped in a sporty combination of Artico leather and Dinamica microfiber, while the coupe model features full Nappa leather.

The estimated prices for the Mercedes-AMG E53 sedan and coupe are RM740,000 and RM764,000 respectively.
