To mark this occasion, local distributor Sime Darby Auto Performance is throwing a celebration like no other, right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. From April 11 to 13 at The Exchange TRX where it was kicked off with the public debut of the new 911 Carrera. Visitors will get the rare opportunity to see the 992.2 version up close before anyone else in the country, which took centre stage as the curtain was pulled back on its Malaysian premiere. The new entry point to the refreshed 992-generation lineup starts from RM1.43 million, and stays true to its rear-engine, rear-wheel drive roots, with power coming from a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six that now boasts 394 PS and 450 Nm (up from 385 PS previously). The updated engine gets a boost from hardware borrowed from higher-spec models, including an intercooler from the 911 Turbo and turbos from the pre-facelift Carrera GTS. With this setup, the Carrera rockets from 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and maxes out at 294 km/h – impressive numbers for the ‘base’ model. All this power is delivered through Porsche’s ultra-slick 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. From a design standpoint, updates include a cleaner rear light strip, a new license plate position, and cutting-edge HD Matrix LED headlights. These advanced headlights pack over 32,000 light points and can illuminate over 600 metres ahead – smart, sleek, and seriously cool. Inside, the 911 moves, for better or worse, to adopt a fully digital 12.6-inch driver display. Still, Porsche nods to its heritage by allowing drivers to select a traditional five-dial layout while a 10.9-inch central touchscreen takes care of infotainment duties and now features native support for Spotify and Apple Music via a more immersive implementation of Apple CarPlay – no phone connection required. For those who want more firepower, the new Carrera 4 GTS turns things up a notch with a new 3.6-litre hybridised flat-six, but was unfortunately missing from its in-person appearance at TRX. It’s the first road-going Porsche 911 to feature T-Hybrid electrification, delivering a whopping 540 PS and 610 Nm. Priced from RM1.89 million and announced for its Malaysian entry last week alongside the Carrera, this all-wheel-drive beast does 0-100 km/h in a blistering 3.0 seconds and tops out at 312 km/h. This hybrid system isn’t your average plug-in setup either. It uses an electric turbocharger with an integrated motor-generator between the turbine and compressor, meaning turbo lag is virtually eliminated for response that is instant, and there’s no need for a traditional wastegate. An additional 54 PS motor is tucked inside the transmission, and both motors draw power from a compact 400V, 1.9 kWh battery located in the nose of the car for optimum weight distribution. Chassis-wise, the GTS variant includes rear-wheel steering, PASM adaptive dampers, and a sport suspension that lowers the car by 10 mm while riding on staggered 20/21-inch wheels with grippy UUHP tyres to match its serious performance credentials. If a sports car isn’t quite your style, Porsche Malaysia also brought out the crowd-pleasing Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe, priced at a more attainable RM699,000. As the second Porsche ever to be locally assembled in Kulim, Kedah, this electrified SUV is a symbol of Porsche’s long-term commitment to the Malaysian market. Unlike the T-Hybrid system, this Cayenne is armed with a more conventional PHEV powertrain that combines a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 with a 176 PS electric motor, producing a combined 519 PS and a mighty 750 Nm of torque - perfect for daily driving with a punch of excitement, it also offers EV-only driving for short commutes or quiet getaways. The celebration isn’t just about horsepower and heritage – Porsche’s 15th Anniversary at TRX includes fun for the whole family. Budding racers can take part in the Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge 2025, where sim racing hopefuls across three age categories (10 to 25) can qualify for the grand finals at Sepang International Circuit. Meanwhile, parents and kids can create their dream Porsche 911 posters at a special booth – a nostalgic nod to the car posters many of us grew up with. For those in the market for something new, exclusive offers will be available across selected models. EV buyers, take note – drive home a Porsche and you might just receive a complimentary onboard charger with a special 15th anniversary livery. To top it all off, Porsche’s lifestyle collection will be available at the event with up to 30% off. It’s the perfect chance to pick up a piece of the brand, whether it's a T-shirt, cap, or collectible that reflects Porsche’s unique blend of style and speed. So, if you’re near TRX from April 11 to 13, head over to be a part of Porsche’s 15-year journey in Malaysia. Whether you're coming for the cars, the culture, the competition, or the love of the brand.
