All-New Ford Fiesta Active Crossover World Debut

Ford has rolled out its all-new Ford Fiesta Active crossover, which features an increased ride height of 18 mm over the standard all-new Fiesta chassis, and track width increased by 10 mm to deliver a more imposing stance, greater rough road capability, and offer an elevated driving position.

Design wise, the Fiesta Active features dark body cladding that runs from the front bumper lip, through the wheel arches and side profile to the rear. At the rear, the Fiesta Active is fitted with a newly designed rear bumper. The Fiesta Active is also offered with 17-inch alloy wheels, which are unique to this model.

Power comes from a range of 1.0-litre three-cylinder, EcoBoost petrol engines (in varying outputs of 85 PS, 100 PS, 125 PS and 140 PS) and 1.5-litre TDCi diesel (with outputs of 85 PS and 120 PS).

All petrol variants are offered with six-speed manual gearboxes, except the 100 PS variant, which can be had with a six-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. Diesel models are only offered with a six-speed manual gearbox. The Fiesta Active is offered with Auto Start/Stop as standard for all 1.0-litre EcoBoost engines and the 120 PS 1.5-litre TDCi diesel variant.

In terms of safety, the Fiesta Active offers the company’s latest suite of driver assistance technologies, including Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Auto High-Beam, Traffic Sign recognition. The Fiesta Active can be optionally specified with Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Alert, Cross Traffic Alert, and Lane Keeping Aid.

The active safety technologies are supported by cameras, radars and ultrasonic sensors, which are able to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings and scan the road ahead up to a distance of 130 metres.

Connectivity is provided by Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system; controlled by a tablet-inspired colour touchscreen system (up to 8-inches), which can be operated with pinch and swipe gestures. The infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and features SYNC AppLink for voice-activation of a range of smartphone apps.

The all-new Fiesta Active will be joined by the all-new Focus Active five-door and wagon models when it goes on sale later this year.
