New 2026 Xpeng X9 launched with Malaysia – Now with AWD, longer 615 km WLTP range, soft-closing doors, Turing AI chip

Bermaz Xpeng has launched the new facelifted 2026 Xpeng X9. There are now more options and features, but prices remain unchanged, starting from RM 279,888.

Aesthetically, the visual updates are minor, but noticeable – new front bumper, new rear bumper with illuminated Xpeng text, and Rolls-Royce-style self-centring Xpeng-logo hub-caps. The last two features were already available in later batches of the pre-facelift X9.

There are also two new exterior colours – Lambent Cyan and Polar Violet. Other existing colours – Midnight Black, Arctic White, and Matte Gray – remain.

Among the technical upgrades are bigger capacity battery (94.8 to 110 kWh), extending the driving range (535 to 615 km, WLTP), Turing AI-chip controlled driving assistance functions. More on that later.

When the X9 was launched in Malaysia in March 2025, it was only available as a front-wheel drive model. This new X9 introduces an all-wheel drive variant. Total variants remain at three. The Long Range 2WD Pro Plus has been discontinued, replaced by the AWD Performance.

Prices are as follows:

  • 2WD Standard Range: RM 279,888
  • 2WD Long Range: RM 297,888
  • AWD Performance: RM 333,888

As before, the Xpeng X9 is imported (CBU) from China. Xpeng has a contract assembler, EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) but their Pegoh plant currently builds only the G6.

Key powertrain differences between the new 2026 Xpeng X9 and the outgoing model are:

  • Battery capacity: 94.8 kWh LFP (Standard Range, was 84.5 kWh); 110 kWh NCM (Long Range, was 101.5 kWh NMC), same for AWD Performance
  • WLTP driving range: 535 km, Standard Range (was 500 km), 615 km, Long Range (was 590 km), 580 km for AWD Performance
  • Charging: Now with 800V support, 11 kW AC (unchanged), 537 kW DC for Standard Range (was 283 kW), 542 kW for Long Range (was 317 kW) and AWD Performance

Power output remains unchanged for the 2WD variants, at 320 PS (235 kW) and 450 Nm. The dual-motor AWD Performance makes 503 PS (370 kW) and 640 Nm.

The bigger batteries also bumped up kerb weight across the range. The Standard Range, with a lower energy density LFP battery bloated from 2,640 kg to 2,750 kg. The higher energy density NMC battery Long Range variant added 100 kg, to 2,690 kg, or 60 kg less than the Standard Range due to differences in battery chemistry. The range-topping AWD Performance tips the scale at Hulk-like 2,745 kg.

For reference, a Toyota Vellfire Hybrid weighs 2,105 kg.

The other important technical update is related to its driving assistance system (ADAS). Previously, Xpilot 2.5 was running on Nvidia Drive Orin-X hardware.

The new X9 uses Xpeng’s proprietary Turing AI chips, which in the future, will be integrate Xpeng vehicles into a wider ecosystem of robotics and vertical take-off and landing vehicles (VTOL, or air taxis).

Inside, there are additional changes:

  • New steering wheel (with buttons for ADAS functions and drive Mode)
  • Additional interior colour option – Rose Brown. Previously available Coffee and Meteorite Black remains
  • Soft-closing doors
  • Separate, 60:40 split-folding control for third row seat (one-touch electrically operated, flat folding)

Other highlight features of the Xpeng X9 are:

  • Panoramic glass roof
  • Air suspension, front and rear
  • 21-inch head-up display
  • 27-speaker Xopera audio system
  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L)
  • Five-zone automatic air-conditioning
  • Power-operated seats with memory and massage functions (first and second row)

Like all Bermaz-distributed brands, the Xpeng X9 comes with free maintenance for the first 5 years / 100,000 km, whichever comes first.

The vehicle is covered by a 5-year/120,000 km warranty, while the EV battery and drive motor are covered by an 8-year/160,000 km warranty, whichever comes first.
