The stylish all-electric hatchback not only gets some key upgrades under its cute retro-inspired shell, but also welcomes a more performance-oriented GT variant to the lineup. According to GWM Malaysia, the standard Good Cat is expected to retail for below RM115,000, while the sportier GT will come in under RM125,000. This marks a notable repositioning compared to the outgoing range, which currently lists the Good Cat 400 Pro at RM114,500 and the higher-spec 500 Ultra at RM144,500. First launched locally in late 2022, the Ora Good Cat has built a reputation for blending quirky design, high-tech features, and EV practicality. For 2026, however, GWM says the model receives “refreshed styling,” hinting at the facelift first revealed in China earlier this year. The update there introduced a new front bumper with slimmer air intakes for a cleaner look minus the chrome accents, and a larger lower grille. However, the teaser posted via GWM Malaysia’s social channels doesn’t show obvious changes to the front fascia, suggesting that the local model may retain much of its existing design — at least for now. That said, buyers can expect fresh colour options and a refined two-tone interior theme, following the cosmetic tweaks introduced last year. The biggest news lies beneath the skin. The 2026 Ora Good Cat now uses a 57.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by SVOLT — a shift away from the CATL-sourced units used previously. The outgoing Good Cat offered two battery options: a 47.8 kWh pack for the 400 Pro and a 63.1 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) unit for the 500 Ultra. With the new LFP setup, the Good Cat now promises up to 480 km of range on the NEDC cycle — comfortably more than the 400 Pro’s 400 km, though slightly less than the 500 Ultra’s 500 km. Charging performance is expected to remain similar, with 6.6 kW AC charging and 60 kW DC fast charging, while drive continues to come from a front-mounted electric motor producing 143 PS (141 hp) and 210 Nm, ensuring zippy, urban-friendly performance. Inside, the cabin continues with a pair of 10.25-inch screens, leatherette upholstery, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, telematics via the My GWM app, and full Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. One notable ergonomic update is the move to a column-mounted gear selector, replacing the old rotary dial. The highlight of the 2026 update is undoubtedly the sportier Good Cat GT, a performance-focused take on the electric hatch. First teased back in April and later spotted at the Merdeka Parade, the GT stands out with a sportier body kit, including larger corner air inlets, side skirts, GT-specific wheels, a rear spoiler, and yellow brake callipers. The cabin gets GT sport seats with yellow stitching, plus a mix of suede and leather upholstery. In terms of its powertrain, the GT uses the same 57.7 kWh LFP battery, but paired with a more potent 171 PS and 250 Nm electric motor. The extra grunt brings improved acceleration, aided by a launch control function unique to the GT. Range, however, dips slightly to 460 km (NEDC), likely due to the added performance output. Feature-wise, the GT retains all the equipment of the regular variant, including the advanced driver assistance suite and infotainment features. Interestingly, the new specifications mirror those of the facelifted Good Cat sold in Thailand, which has been locally assembled (CKD) there since the 2024 model year. GWM Malaysia has yet to confirm if the Malaysian-market update will follow suit and become CKD through local partner EP Manufacturing (EPMB) — a move that could further strengthen its value proposition. ✕ Let's Connect on Whatsapp We protect your personal information in compliance with the PDPA I agree with Carlist.my Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
