Developed and engineered in Japan, the Proxes Comfort is designed to meet the demands of modern mobility, particularly as electrified vehicles continue to gain traction locally. Toyo Tires notes that EV adoption in Malaysia has surged by more than 300 percent over the past four years thanks to the CBU tax-free window that expired at the end of 2025, but has nonetheless influenced a shift that has heavily impacted the development priorities of this new tyre. Positioned as part of Toyo’s comfort-focused tyre line-up, hence the name, the Proxes Comfort places an emphasis on ride refinement, lower noise levels and everyday usability, without compromising on safety or stability. At its core is a newly developed tread compound paired with a reinforced internal structure, both aimed at delivering stronger high-speed stability and more confident braking performance. An optimised tyre profile further reduces stress on the bead and belt edges, helping to maintain consistent road contact during high-speed lane changes and cornering. One of the headline technologies debuting on the Proxes Comfort is Toyo’s Dynamic Taper Design. Unlike conventional groove designs that can lead to uneven contact pressure and reduced stability, this new approach helps ensure a more uniform pressure distribution across the contact patch. The result is improved block stiffness, better traction and more predictable handling, especially during heavy rain or sudden braking situations. Compared to its predecessor, the Proxes CF2, safety performance has taken a clear step forward. Toyo Tires claims dry braking distances are reduced by eight percent, while wet braking sees an even more significant improvement of up to 13 percent. These figures are based on testing conducted using the 205/55R16 size fitted to a Volkswagen Golf Mk8. Crucially, these gains come without sacrificing comfort, with Toyo highlighting reduced road noise and vibration for a quieter, smoother driving experience on daily commutes and longer highway journeys. Reflecting the growing number of BEVs, HEVs and PHEVs on Malaysian roads, most Proxes Comfort variants come with Extra Load (XL) ratings to better handle the additional weight of electrified powertrains. Out of the available range, 11 sizes are classified as EV-ready and carry a full 5/5 rating for noise reduction and ride comfort. The tyre is currently offered in 14 sizes, spanning 16- to 19-inch fitments, and is intended for B-, C- and E-segment vehicles. Adding to its credentials, the Proxes Comfort recently earned a “Gut” (Good) rating in the 2025 Auto Bild summer tyre test. The publication praised its strong resistance to aquaplaning, short braking distances and overall value for money. In Malaysia, prices range from RM279 to RM698 depending on size, and the new Proxes Comfort is now available at authorised Toyo Tires dealers nationwide. ✕ Let's Connect on Whatsapp We protect your personal information in compliance with the PDPA I agree with Carlist.my Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
