BYD, Denza drive eco-focused message at Light the Change Festival, open till 4 Jan 2026 in Desa Park City

BYD and its premium sub-brand Denza are taking centre stage at The Waterfront @ Desa Park City with the month-long “Light the Change Festival”, an event dedicated to sustainability and the future of electric mobility. The showcase brings together the community to highlight how consumers, businesses, and local stakeholders all play a role in protecting the environment.

A major theme of the festival is the One Degree. One Future movement, a worldwide call to cool the planet by one degree Celsius. BYD and Denza are using the event to demonstrate how their latest battery-electric vehicles and clean-energy technologies contribute to meaningful environmental progress. The company says its global new-energy efforts have already eliminated more than 9.3 million tonnes of CO2 emissions to date.

Malaysia continues to be an important market for the brands, with a combined 12,872 units sold as of November 2025, marking a 76% jump from the previous year. Their cumulative sales now exceed 25,233 vehicles. Collectively, these BEVs are estimated to reduce carbon emissions by 62,191 tonnes annually, comparable to planting nearly 2.5 million trees.

Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, said the brands remain dedicated to offering experiences that help Malaysians appreciate how everyday decisions — including adopting electric vehicles — can lead to a cooler, healthier planet.

Sime Motors, Malaysia’s official BYD distributor, has been instrumental in expanding the brands’ presence. The company has introduced seven models to date, supported by a nationwide network comprising 39 sales and marketing outlets, 24 aftersales centres, 12 authorised body and paint facilities, a BYD Training Centre, and a centralised warehouse. Managing Director Andrew Basham emphasised that the partnership with BYD is driven by a mutual commitment to accelerating EV adoption and advancing sustainability.

Visitors to the festival can enjoy EV test drives, participate in the Adopt a Plant pledge, and catch the nightly Golden Hour showcase. Open daily from 3 pm to 11 pm until 4 January 2026, the event also features nature-inspired displays, including a Tree of Life built from recycled materials, encouraging reflection and climate-positive action.

There's just something about cars. It's a conveyance, it's a liability, it's a tool; but it can also be a source of joy, pride, inspiration and passion. It's much like clothes versus fashion. And like the latter, the pursuit of perfection never ends.
