Dunlop enters new chapter in Malaysia under Toyotsu Binter for 2026 with EV-ready tyre lineup

Dunlop is reshuffling its strategy in Malaysia, appointing Toyotsu Binter Malaysia (TBM) as its sole distributor in a move aimed at sharpening the brand’s competitiveness in an increasingly crowded tyre market. The partnership ushers in a renewed focus on product innovation, stronger dealer ties and wider nationwide reach.

Backed by the global reach of Toyota Tsusho Corporation and in close cooperation with Sumitomo Rubber Industries - which regained ownership of Dunlop in 2025 -TBM is positioning itself to streamline operations while introducing the latest tyre technologies to local consumers. The emphasis is not just on volume, but on consistency of supply and relevance in a rapidly evolving automotive landscape.

TBM is currently working with a network of over 190 authorised dealers and trade partners across Malaysia, but that number is set to grow. Expansion plans over the next two years will focus on improving accessibility in key regions, alongside the potential rollout of specialised Dunlop retail outlets to elevate the customer experience.

Marcus Lim, Managing Director of Toyotsu Binter Malaysia Sdn Bhd, said: “This marks the beginning of a new chapter for Dunlop in Malaysia. Our focus is on strengthening supply consistency, expanding dealer reach and ensuring Malaysian motorists benefit from Dunlop’s latest global tyre technologies, including products developed to support the shift towards electrified mobility.”

Takehiko Asai, Managing Director of Sumitomo Rubber Industries ASEAN, said “Dunlop’s engineering capabilities continue to support its partnerships with global vehicle manufacturers, and our OEM relationships reflect the confidence automakers place in Dunlop’s performance and reliability. This provides a strong foundation as we continue introducing products designed to meet evolving mobility needs in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia.”

Beyond distribution, the brand is doubling down on both the replacement and OEM segments. Dunlop tyres already feature on selected models from Toyota, Lexus, Isuzu, Mazda and Leapmotor, reinforcing its footprint across a wide spectrum of vehicles.

A key highlight of the refreshed line-up is its growing range of EV-ready tyres. Models such as the Blue Response TG, Sport Maxx Lux and SP Sport Maxx 060+ are engineered to cope with the added weight and instant torque of electric vehicles, while the upcoming e.Sport Maxx is set to further strengthen Dunlop’s electrification push.

There's just something about cars. It's a conveyance, it's a liability, it's a tool; but it can also be a source of joy, pride, inspiration and passion. It's much like clothes versus fashion. And like the latter, the pursuit of perfection never ends.
