Both variants of the Tiggo Cross, the 1.5 Turbo and the Tiggo Cross Hybrid, will now be rolling off factory lines in Kedah. Priced at RM88,800 and RM99,800 respectively. Under the bonnet, sub-RM90k entry variant packs a 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-4 petrol engine producing 147 PS and 210 Nm of torque with power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.3 seconds. Stepping up to the Hybrid, this Tiggo Cross combines a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (102 PS and 125 Nm) with two integrated electric motors rated at 204 PS and 310 Nm that’s fed by a 1.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, reaching the front wheels via its Direct Hybrid Transmission (DHT). That said, both variants of the Tiggo Cross are pretty well specified with full leatherette upholstery inside, dual-climate control, Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, and a full suite of ADAS active safety features including a 540-degree camera. “We are proud to assemble it right here in Malaysia, leveraging local capabilities and strategic partnerships that ensure we deliver global quality with local relevance,” said Michael Chew, Vice President of Chery Malaysia. He added, “Assembling the TIGGO CROSS in Malaysia underscores Chery’s deep commitment to the local market and reflects our broader localisation strategy and long-term vision for sustainable growth.” Sui Keng Huat, Managing Director of Inokom Corporation, echoed the sentiment, stating, “The introduction of this new model is a testament to our strong collaboration and aligned ambitions.” Both Tiggo Cross variants come with a seven-year/150,000-km manufacturer warranty and seven years of free towing service.
