Lexus RX 350 L Previewed- Now with 7-seats, Priced From RM475,000

After making its debut in Los Angeles just last November, Lexus Malaysia has unveiled the Lexus RX 350 L, an extended RX with an increased seating capacity of 7 occupants.

Priced from RM475,000, the RX 350 L is RM17,200 more expensive than the 5-seater RX 350 Luxury variant that it replaces.

While many brands use the ‘L’ suffix in their model name to designate long wheelbase, the L in the RX 350 L does not increase the 2,790mm wheelbase. Instead, the rear overhang has been increased by another 110mm to accommodate the additional third row with two seats. This makes the RX 350 L measure exactly 5.0 metres in length.

From the side profile, the RX 350 L retains the same profile and blacked-out C-pillars that create a ‘floating-roof’ effect. The edge of the roof has been extended to provide better headroom for the third row occupants.

The rear bumper has also been redesigned, with the exhaust tips removed due to a change from dual exhaust to single exhaust outlet. A satin metallic trim piece adorns the lower portion, running the entire width of the bumper.

Access to the third row of seats is through a one-touch lever that slides the second row seat forward and tilt the seatback.

Occupants at the third row are still treated with great Lexus hospitality. There are large individual cup holders as well as side trim mounted air conditioning vents for both left and right passengers. Rear passengers can control their temperature and blower to their own preference, making the RX 350 L air conditioning a tri-zone system versus dual in the 5-seat variants.

The second row seats have been raised to allow more foot room for the third row passengers.

The seats of the third row can be folded flat down or raised up at a touch of a button. The switches are also repeated on the second row door panel, so users can raised the seats on the third row without using the switches in the luggage area.

The 7-seater RX 350 L will only be available with the 3.5-litre V6 engine delivering 289 hp and 358 Nm. Power is transferred to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Lexus RX 350 L comes with these key features and specifications:

  • LED headlamps
  • 20-inch wheels with 235/550R20 tyres
  • LED front fog lamps with cornering function
  • Adaptive Variable Suspension
