Toyota Venza set to launch in 2027, coupe-inspired SUV, more stylish than RAV4

Toyota is poised for a major shake-up in its compact SUV lineup, with the eagerly anticipated 2027 launch of the all-new Venza.

This sleek, coupe-inspired SUV is poised to stand out from the crowd, offering a unique blend of style and substance that caters to a more discerning audience seeking something beyond the traditional RAV4.

According to Japanese news, the eagerly anticipated 2027 Venza is expected to draw inspiration from the next-generation Harrier, a premium Japanese SUV that was previously known as the Venza's North American counterpart.

In contrast to the boxy, rugged design of the RAV4, the new Venza is expected to adopt a more elegant and aerodynamic silhouette reminiscent of high-end SUV coupes, such as the BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, and Audi Q5 Sportback.

Dimensionally, the model has a height of 4,750 mm with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm, which is 80 mm longer than the previous model. At the same time, the height is limited to 1,550mm to achieve a more sporty, boxy structure.

Inside the cabin, the Venza is expected to provide a more luxurious experience than the RAV4, with a greater emphasis on technology. The high-tech features are likely to include a spacious 12.9-inch infotainment display and over-the-air (OTA) updates, ensuring that the SUV remains at the forefront of the latest advancements in connectivity and user experience.

In the Japanese market, the latest Harrier is rumoured to be offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged hybrid engine, promising efficiency and power. Moreover, the Toyota Venza, designed for the American market, is projected to follow the same footsteps as the RAV4 Hybrid and RAV4 Prime, with only hybrid models available.

The Venza’s power output is estimated to remain at 236 horsepower, while the all-wheel-drive variant is anticipated to deliver an increased power of 320 horsepower.

The eagerly awaited Toyota Venza was initially slated for a 2026 debut, but the launch has been postponed until 2027 due to ongoing safety investigations into Toyota’s vehicles in Japan. Although the wait may be prolonged, the added peace of mind that comes with Toyota’s rigorous safety standards is certainly worth it for those seeking a reliable and luxurious SUV.
