My specific car has the Orient Blue Metallic paint with Sunroof and comfort seats. Sound system is way better than the previous generation E39. Only gripe is, sometimes temperamental electronics, the painful active steering because it goes kaput all the time and a smooth but attention wanting Zf 6hp19 transmission which has a plastic(!) oil pan. What were they thinking? Looks are subjective matter and contrary to the popular belief of Bangle era cars were ugly, look how gracefully they have aged and even after 17 years of introduction, the E60 still looks contemporary. The facelift or LCI ones are better in terms of reliability. Well, I have driven the 520i 2.2 version of E60 and it was sluggish, slow and numb feeling. 525i is a bit better but the car doesn’t have the instantaneous throttle response added with a load of low end torque like the 530i. Cocky driver in an Audi or someone tailgating in a Mercedes? Just a small press in the pedal and off you go from horrible German tail getters. Not really an M5 or even a V8 powered E60 by any means but this thing has the potential to cope up with 90% of the cars we see in everyday traffic and way more reliable and wallet friendly to maintain compared to their more powerful V8 and V10 M counterparts. Sounds sweet too. Less
