N55B30T0 3.0 litre straight-six with a closed deck and a single twin-scroll turbocharger – not the same twin-turbo mill as the M3 and M4, then. Still, it’s a feisty motor, this, punching out 370 hp at 6,500 rpm and 465 Nm of torque from 1,400 to 4,750 rpm – with an overboost function pushing it to 500 Nm.
All this grunt is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed M DCT (dual-clutch transmission) – with oversteer-reducing Stability Clutch Control (SCC), Launch Control and a Smokey Burnout function – and an Active M Differential. As a result, the M2 swings from 0-100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, before hitting the electronic limiter at 250 km/h.
