Leaked: 2016 Perodua Sedan

This single photo uploaded by the Proton Community Malaysia Facebook page is probably the first clear shot of Perodua’s upcoming sedan.

Perodua’s yet to be named sedan is expected to be launched sometime between late-2016 and early-2017, and is likely to go head-to-head with the Proton Saga, itself also due to be replaced soon.

Perodua has yet to make any official announcements regarding the all-new sedan’s specifications but have in the past hinted that it will be powered by an all-new aluminium NR-series engine, available in 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre guise. The engine is shared with the current Toyota Avanza. The new engine is also slated to go into the upcoming new Toyota Vios that’s due later this year.

A five-star NCAP rating have been suggested by Perodua’s president and CEO, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh, implying that the new Perodua sedan could be the first Perodua model to be equipped with electronic stability control (ESC).
