Impressively, the company added another 500,000 units just 8 months after crossing the 1 million unit mark, echoing the brand’s rapid rise in the increasingly competitive BEV landscape. Theirs is a journey that began in June 2019 when the company delivered its first vehicle in China. Clearly, growth has accelerated dramatically in recent years, with cumulative deliveries reaching 500,000 units by October 2024 before doubling to 1 million vehicles late last year in October 2025. This latest achievement, however, highlights the effectiveness of the brand’s aggressive expansion strategy, particularly through the Leapmotor International joint venture, which has helped extend its presence beyond its domestic market. The momentum is also being felt in Malaysia, where Leapmotor with the automaker recently commenced completely knocked down (CKD) local assembly operations at Stellantis’ manufacturing facility in Gurun, Kedah. Production initially focuses on the Leapmotor C10 electric SUV, with plans already in place to add the newer and more compact B10 model to the assembly line before the end of the year. Supporting the localisation effort is an initial investment of approximately RM24 million. Of that amount, around RM13.7 million has been allocated to upgrading production lines and plant infrastructure, while the remaining ~RM10.4 million will be used to develop local assembly capabilities and support manufacturing readiness. The company also recently named Cycle & Carriage as its distribution operations partner in Malaysia, a move expected to accelerate brand visibility and customer reach. The partnership will expand Leapmotor’s footprint into locations such as George Town, Pavilion Bukit Jalil and Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru, while a flagship 3S centre in Glenmarie is also set to enhance the ownership experience for Malaysian car buyers. ✕ Let's Connect on Whatsapp We protect your personal information in compliance with the PDPA I agree with Carlist.my Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
