Chery gave this small RM99k Tiggo Cross HEV 204PS, hypermiling OPTIONAL Videos Nathanael Long | April 14, 2026 11:17 am The hybrid SUV market in Malaysia is heating up (especially with volatile crude oil prices) , but what if you could get one for under RM100,000? In this video, we take a closer look at the Chery Tiggo Cross Hybrid, currently one of the most affordable hybrid SUVs available in Malaysia. Many Malaysians are starting to rethink their car choices. If petrol remains relatively affordable at around RM1.99/L for eligible drivers, does a hybrid still make sense? Or is it simply a smarter long-term option? The Tiggo Cross Hybrid pairs a 1.5-litre engine with an electric motor producing a combined 204PS and 310Nm, with the electric motor doing most of the driving—similar in concept to hybrid systems used by Honda Civic e:HEV, Honda City e:HEV, and Honda HR-V e:HEV. Chery claims 5.4L/100km fuel consumption, but real-world driving in the Klang Valley shows it can dip closer to 4.5L/100km. Beyond efficiency, this compact SUV also packs plenty of features including dual 10.25-inch displays, 360-degree camera, full ADAS, dual-zone climate control, and a surprisingly spacious cabin. But with rivals like the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, Proton X50, and Honda WR-V on the market, does the Tiggo Cross Hybrid actually deliver the best value?
