New Ford Ranger Arriving This Month - Raptor Plus 10-Speed AT Variants

Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) today announced that the new Ford Ranger is scheduled for launch in Malaysia at the end of this month.

The line-up will consist of the Ranger XL, XLT, Wildtrak, and the much anticipated Ranger Raptor. For the first time, SDAC will also be introducing the Ranger XLT+ variant to the Malaysia market.

There will be three engine options - the new 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo diesel engine producing 213 PS and 500 Nm, a 2.0-litre Si-Turbo diesel engine churning out 180 PS and 420 Nm, and the 2.2-litre TDCI diesel engine which makes 160 PS and 385 Nm of torque.

The 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo diesel engine will not only be powering the Ranger Raptor, but also the Wildtrak, which will have two output levels (180 PS for 4x2 and 213 PS for 4x4)

Also offered for the first time is the 10-speed automatic gearbox in class. There is also a 6-speed manual transmission for some variants.

Powertrain aside, the new Ranger features many of Ford’s latest innovations which are first and only in-class such as:

• Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
• Forward Collision Warning
• Lane Departure Warning
• Adaptive Cruise Control
• Easy Lift Tailgate

Other key features include:

• HID headlights with LED DRLs and fog lamps
• A 230 V power socket
• Sync 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, AppLink
• 8-inch touch screen display with Bluetooth, GPS, voice recognition
• Hill Descent Control
• E-locking rear differential
• 6 airbags
• 800 mm water wading
• 4x4 Shift on the fly
• Dual zone electronic automatic temperature control

That said, more details of the new Ranger will be revealed when it is launched later this month, so stay tuned and watch this space.
