Ford Ranger Gets Reverse Camera for XLT Variants; Extended Warranty for Limited Period

For a limited period until 30 June this year, buyers of the Ford Ranger 2.2 XLT and 3.2 XLT variants are being offered a 2-year/100,000km extension of their warranty coverage, in addition to the existing 3-year/100,000km manufacturer-backed warranty.

The extended warranty coverage is provided by local Ford distributor Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC), and comes in conjunction with slight increase in pricing for all XLT variants ranging between RM850 and RM920.

The range-topping 3.2 Wildtrak model, however, which does not enjoy this extended warranty promotion, sees a bigger increase of RM5,300, now hitting the road at RM137,488 without insurance. The base 2.2 XL model also does not get the extended warranty offer, but its price remains unchanged.

Facelifted last October, the Ranger T6 is offered to Malaysians in six model variants priced (OTR without insurance) as follows:

All variants of the Ranger are currently offered in Double Cab 4x4 configurations as standard.

The Ranger is noteworthy for being the best-stocked pick-up truck in the area of safety. Uncommon in its segment, all variants come standard with electronic stability control.

Coinciding with the increase in price, Ford has allowed the reverse camera that was previously exclusive to the Wildtrak model to trickle down to the XLT variants, thus giving buyers much improved value despite having to pay more money.

The new pricing ensures that the Ranger Wildtrak remain the costliest pick-up truck in the market by a considerable margin. Both the Nissan Navara and Isuzu D-Max cost no more than RM125k in their most expensive guises, whilst the recently launched Toyota Hilux is goes for RM134k in 2.8G form.
