Home News Auto News Nissan is bringing Omori Factory-Backed Nismo Performance Centers to Australia Nissan is bringing Omori Factory-Backed Nismo Performance Centers to Australia Auto News Sep Irran Halid https://www.carlist.my/authors/100116/sep-irran-halid | May 29, 2026 10:22 am Nissan is strengthening the global presence of its Nismo performance division, with Australia set to become one of the first markets outside Japan to receive official Omori Factory-backed Nismo Performance Centers. Announced jointly by Nissan Motorsports & Customizing Co., Ltd. (NMC) and Nissan Oceania, the multi-phase expansion plan aims to improve local access to genuine Nismo parts, accessories, heritage support, technical expertise, and customer experiences for Australian enthusiasts. At the heart of the announcement is the establishment of dedicated Nismo Performance Centers in Australia, bringing factory-level expertise from Nismo's legendary Omori Factory in Japan closer to local customers. According to Nissan, these centres will provide direct access to Omori Factory support, advanced vehicle restoration programs, and factory-certified Nismo Meisters trained under Nismo's global standards. The decision of Australia being selected was due to its mature enthusiast culture, strong GT-R community, and growing demand for authentic Nismo heritage support and motorsport-driven experiences. Beyond performance cars and motorsports, Nissan plans to grow its restoration, restomod, and heritage parts business, initially focusing on iconic models such as the R32, R33, and R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R. The company also plans to expand the Nismo brand into more markets and vehicle segments, while continuing its "track to road" philosophy of bringing motorsport-derived technologies to production vehicles. This reflects how performance sub-brands are becoming increasingly important for automakers globally, similar to Toyota’s GR division, Hyundai N, and Mercedes-AMG. While the announcement is currently focused on Australia, it could also indirectly benefit Nissan enthusiasts here in Malaysia. Malaysia already has a sizeable community surrounding classic Nissan performance models, particularly the R32, R33, and R34 Skyline GT-R, alongside the Silvia, Fairlady Z, and R35 GT-R. However, local owners often rely on independent specialists and grey import channels for genuine parts, restoration work, and technical expertise. With Australia becoming a regional hub for official Nismo support outside Japan, Malaysian owners could potentially gain easier access to: genuine heritage parts factory-backed restoration programs certified NISMO expertise specialised servicing and tuning support Rather than shipping parts or even vehicles directly to Japan, Australia may eventually serve as a closer regional gateway for Nismo-related services within the Asia Pacific region. The move could also strengthen Nissan’s enthusiast image across Southeast Asia, especially as brands such as Toyota and Hyundai continue expanding their own performance divisions globally. ✕ Let's Connect on Whatsapp We protect your personal information in compliance with the PDPA I agree with Carlist.my Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
