Powering the B200 Progressive Line is the same 1.3-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine as the A200, producing 163hp and 350 Nm of torque. Paired to the engine is a 7-speed DCT gearbox which enables the car to clock a top speed of 223km/h and do the century sprint in 8.2 seconds.
On the exterior, key features include 18-inch light-alloy wheels, a squat, progressive front end with flowing transition from bonnet to the windscreen, two-part tail lamps, rear bumper reflectors, a black rear bumper bottom section with a chrome trim strip, a large roof spoiler, as well as high-gloss black spoilers at the sides of the rear window.
Inside, the new B-Class features Black Artico leather upholstery, Comfort Seats in the rear, a centre console with touch-based control and input system similar to the E-Class, as well as ambient lighting with 64 colours.
The list of standard equipment in new B-Class includes the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) multimedia system, a high-resolution Widescreen cockpit, navigation display with Augmented Reality technology, and voice control with natural speech recognition, which is activated by saying “Hey Mercedes”.
The new B-Class also comes with driving assistance systems such as Blind Spot Assist, and also Active Brake Assist which can help mitigate the severity of rear-end collisions with slower-moving, stopping or stationary vehicles ahead.
