Get Up Close And Personal With The All-New 2015 Isuzu MU-X At Sunway Pyramid

The Isuzu MU-X will soon be launched in Malaysia with introductory prices starting at RM152k but if you’d like to see the seven-seater SUV in the metal first before putting down an order, fret not because Isuzu Malaysia has organised a roadshow located at the Blue Atrium in Sunway Pyramid from now until June 7, 2015.

(Check out our 2015 Isuzu MU-X Info Hub here)

Currently on display at Sunway Pyramid are two units of the MU-X 2.5L 4x4 (AT) variant. As we’ve previously reported, two variants will be offered here: a 4X4 and 4X2. Both will be powered by a 2.5-litre VGS turbo intercooler diesel engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Final power output is 136PS and 320Nm of torque.

The MU-X is based on the D-Max pickup truck but undergoes a few changes to adopt a more SUV-like nature. Firstly, the rear suspension has been refitted with a five-link Active Suspension to accommodate the additional structure and third-row seats. Elsewhere, the MU-X receives LED daytime running lights, a rear spoiler, and a muffler cutter to set it apart from its workhorse brethren.

That’s not to say the Isuzu MU-X has lost all of its off-road capability in the pursuit of being an SUV. Fitted in the 4X4 variant is Isuzu’s Terrain Command which allows on-the-fly alternations between 2WD and 4WD.

Inside, the cabin shares a familiar look to the D-Max but is fitted with premium features which include a Blaupunkt infotainment audio system with GPS navigation and rear-view camera, rear DVD monitor, leather seats, automatic climate control, second and third row air-conditioning vents with dedicated fan speed control, and six-way electric driver’s seat.

As for safety features, dual front SRS airbags come as standard, accompanied by full ABS with EBD and BA, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, and ISOFIX child seat anchors with top tethers for the second row seats.

If the Isuzu D-Max is on your wish list, you’ll be glad to know the mean-looking Diablo variant is also on display at the roadshow. Launched in March 2015, the menacing pickup can be had in either 2.5- and 3.0-litre variants with prices starting from RM110k.
