Range Rover Velar Open For Booking - Malaysian Debut In Q2 2018

Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia, the authorised distributor of Land Rover vehicles in Malaysia announced today that the 2018 Range Rover Velar will reach Malaysian shores early Q2 of 2018.

Named after the Range Rover’s prototype that was produced 1969, the Velar is a new mid-sized SUV which sits between the Evoque and the Range Rover Sport.

Key features of the Velar include aluminium-intensive monocoque body, full-LED headlights; flush deployable door handles, and a low drag coefficient of 0.32 which makes it the most aerodynamically-efficient Land Rover ever produced.

Inside, the luxury mid-size SUV comes with the new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system which features two high-definition 10-inch touchscreens that form the centrepiece of the minimalist cabin.

Powering the Velar is a range of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines both available in either 2.0-litre four-cylinder and 3.0-litre V6 configurations.

• D180: 2.0-litre diesel, 180hp, 430Nm
• D240: 2.0-litre diesel, 240hp, 500Nm
• D300: 3.0-litre V6 diesel, 300hp, 700Nm
• P250: 2.0-litre petrol, 250hp, 365Nm
• P380: 3.0-litre V6 petrol, 380hp, 450Nm

There is no official indication on which engine will be offered in Malaysia, but the 2.0-litre petrol P250 looks like a certain bet. It this setup, the Velar is claimed to be able to do 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 217 km/h. Fuel economy in the combined cycle is rated at 7.6 litres/100km with CO2 emissions at 173 g/km.

Ensuring it maintains Land Rover’s tradition of accomplished all-terrain capability, the Velar has all-wheel drive as standard, with the Terrain Response 2 programme available as an optional add-on. In water crossings, the Velar is able to wade through water 650mm deep. The chassis also incorporates air suspension, stability control, roll stability control, and hill descent control.

Designed and engineered at Jaguar Land Rover’s development centres in the UK, the Velar, which will be manufactured at the company’s Solihull production facility, is now open for booking at all Land Rover showrooms nationwide.
