All-New 2016 Honda Civic Revealed In These Patent Images

Thanks to the folks over at CivicX.com who uncovered these official patent images filed by Honda, we now have our first look at what the tenth-generation 2016 Honda Civic will look like in both the coupé and four-door sedan bodystyle. If you can recall, Honda revealed a thinly disguised Civic concept at the New York International Auto Show recently which the patent images don’t differ heavily from.

Being the production Civic, there will be a few differences from the concept. At the front, the bumper now has smaller and less aggressive air vents and lines while the rear sees the omission of the centre-mounted exhaust and rear spoiler. The rear bumper is also a little more subtle in design although the wrapround taillights remain in place, at least for the coupé. The sedan makes do without them at the gain of two extra doors.

No mention has been made of the powertrain that will power the tenth-generation Honda Civic but it is expected to features the brand’s all-new 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo engine, mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic depending on which market it will be sold in.

Keep in mind that the Civic you see before you is developed by Honda’s North American R&D team and not be Honda’s R&D division in Japan, similar to the all-new NSX. In all likelihood, this is what our Civic will look like once it makes its way here.
