Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has opened its order books for the all-new Elantra, with deliveries set to commence before Hari Raya this year (25-26 June 2017). Three variants have been announced, with estimated prices ranging from RM125,000 to RM135,000.
A 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol powerplant from the Gamma engine family headlines the range, with rated outputs of 204PS @ 6,000rpm and 265Nm @ 1,500 – 4,500rpm. This engine powers the 1.6 Turbo Sport variant priced at an estimated RM135,000.
Remaining two variants – 2.0 MPI Executive and 2.0 MPI Dynamic – are powered by a 2.0-litre Nu four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 152PS @ 6,200rpm and 192Nm @ 4,000rpm. Prices for these two variants are estimated at RM120,000 for the Executive and RM125,000 for the Dynamic variant.
Details are kept scarce at the moment; HSDM’s announcement mentions only an emergency fastening device, hands-free smart trunk, and ‘more exciting features’ to be unveiled at the model’s upcoming launch.
Featuring advanced high-strength steel body construction, the Elantra was recently awarded five stars by the Australasian New Car Assessment Programme with an overall score of 35.01 out of 37 points.
