Home News Auto News BMW Group Transforms HQ Into A "Battery" To Celebrate Delivery Of 100,000 Electrified Vehicles Globally BMW Group Transforms HQ Into A "Battery" To Celebrate Delivery Of 100,000 Electrified Vehicles Globally Auto News Gokul | December 20, 2017 12:22 pm BMW Group announced today that it has delivered more than 100,000 electrified vehicles to customers worldwide in 2017 as promised in the beginning of the year.To commemorate the milestone occasion, an eye-catching light setup was installed at the BMW Group headquarters in the north of Munich to make the building look like a battery, symbolising the technological change taking place in mobility.“We deliver on our promises,” said Harald Krüger, chairman of the board of management of BMW AG.“This 99-metre-high signal is lighting the way into the era of electro-mobility. Selling 100,000 electrified cars in one year is an important milestone, but this is just the beginning for us. Since the introduction of the BMW i3 2013, we’ve delivered over 200,000 electrified cars to our customers and by 2025, we will offer 25 electrified models to our customers. Our early focus on electro-mobility has made this success possible – and electro-mobility will continue to be my measure for our future success.”As for the Malaysian market, the premium automaker has delivered over 6200 iPerformance hybrid models, translating to over 50% of BMW Malaysia’s total volume for the country.Han Sang Yun, managing director and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia said, “We are proud to announce that Malaysia is the world’s fifth largest market for the BMW iPerformance models after the US, UK and Europe, and the third largest market for the BMW 330 e model after the US and UK.As far as the X5 xDrive40e is concerned, Malaysia is the second largest market in the world after the US while the BMW 7 series 740Le is the third largest market after Japan and the US.“While the BMW Group celebrates this milestone at a global level, it is a special feeling knowing that Malaysia played an important role in this success. We can only look forward to creating more successful milestones in 2018,” added Han.By 2025, the company will offer 25 fully electric and plug-in hybrid models worldwide.
