Sime Darby Auto Connexion, the authorised dealer of Ford vehicles in Malaysia has teased the arrival of the all-new 2015 Ford Everest on its official website. Making its debut merely days ago at the Bangkok International Motor Show, the third-generation seven-seater Everest is expected to make its local debut here later this year and will be brought in from Thailand.
Final specifications of the Malaysian-spec Everest aren’t finalised. The website merely states what is already known to be in the SUV including the i4WD Terrain Management System with four settings (Normal, Snow/Gravel/Grass, Sand, and Rock). Adding to the off-road capabilities is hill descent control and an electronic locking rear differential. If required a towing capacity of 3 tonnes is on hand.
Power plant options include the brand’s 3.2-litre five-cylinder Duratorq TDCi turbo-diesel mill that produces 200PS and 470Nm of torque. A smaller 2.2-litre four-cylinder Duratorq TDCi turbo-diesel providing 160PS and 385Nm of torque will also be available. A six-speed automatic or manual transmission can be paired to both engines but we reckon only the auto box will find its way here.
The cabin will carry Ford’s SYNC 2 infotainment system that features MyFord Touch, allowing select devices to interact with the unit and can be accessed hands-free via voice recognition. Leather upholstery is also mentioned here as well as a panoramic moon roof and for practicality, the third row electric Powerfold seats fold flat at the press of a button to expand the available cargo capacity, with access to it made easy by utilising the Power Tailgate.
Other features include Blind Sport Information System (BLIS) and Cross-traffic alert, Active Park Assist, and rear view camera. As for safety, electronic stability control (ESC) is available with up to seven airbags put in place.
For the Thailand market, prices for the all-new 2015 Ford Everest start from THB 1,269,000 (RM 142,446) for the 2.2L Titanium 4x2 and up to the THB 1,599,000 (RM 179,488) for the 3.2L Titanium+ 4x4.
