Is This The Ultimate Off-Road Buggy? Atom Adopts Its Atom For All-Terrain Use

You’re probably familiar with the British car maker Ariel and their lightweight and very bare-skeleton Atom. Drawing on the same principles, Ariel is poised to launch a new off-road vehicle known as the Nomad, combining the same exposed frame design as the Atom but made more rugged to tackle various terrain.

Powering the Nomad is a 2.4-litre four-cylinder Honda sourced engine, providing 235 bhp and 300 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Interestingly enough, the Nomad does not come with four-wheel drive but Ariel claims its kerb weight of just 670 kg allows it to outperform 4x4s in most situations. 100 km/h is met in 3.4 seconds from a standstill.

Ariel is only planning to produce 100 units of the Nomad per year and for the money paid (in this case 27,500 pounds), you will not receive doors or a roof, suitable for an off-road vehicle. The seats are waterproof as well, which is nice.

The Nomad is also available with a bunch of optional extras to improve its off-road prowess further. Best off-road buggy ever?
