2017 Mercedes-Benz E300 Joins W213 E-Class Range In Malaysia; CBU, RM459k

The four-pronged line-up of the W213 E-Class promised by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia last June has come to completion with the fully-imported E300 AMG Line officially launched today, joining the existing E200 Avantgarde, E250 Avantgarde, and E250 Exclusive variants.

Priced at RM458,888, the E300 AMG Line is a full RM33,000 costlier than the E250 Exclusive. Existing members of the W213 E-Class are priced as follows:

  • E200 Avantgarde – 184hp, 300Nm, RM395,888
  • E250 Avantgarde – 211hp, 350Nm, RM420,888
  • E250 Exclusive – 211hp, 350Nm, RM425,888

At present, the W213 E-Class comes completely built-up (CBU) from Sindelfingen, Germany, but local-assembly is expected to come sometime this year.

Powering the E300 is the same 2.0-litre M274 turbo engine as seen in the E200 and E250, but tuned to higher outputs of 245hp and 370Nm sent to the rear wheel via a 9-speed automatic transmission. Top speed is electronically capped at 250 km/h with its 0-100km/h sprint time claimed at 6.2 seconds. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 6.3 litres/100km.

As part of its AMG Line trim specification, the E300 gets a full AMG bodykit with 19-inch five twin-spoke wheels. We had a preview of the E-Class in this appearance from our advance-spec E200 test car reviewed last November.

Recapping from our earlier stories, equipment levels of the E-Class as available in the E200 and E250 are as follows:

  • Paddle Shifters
  • Carplay and Android smartphone integration
  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Aluminium cabin trim
  • Heated front seats with lumbar support
  • Double sun blind, electric rear window blind, roller sun blinds for both rear doors
  • Park Pilot (autonomous side and reverse parking)
  • Reverse camera

  • Adaptive High Beam Assist
  • 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • 360-degree camera
  • Keyless entry
  • Open pore black ash wood trim (Avantgarde)
  • Brown high-gloss ash wood trim (Exclusive)
  • Upper dashboard in Artico leather (Exclusive)

The E300 AMG Line adds the following kit:

  • AMG Line body kit
  • Aluminium finish on paddle shifters
  • Burmester surround sound
  • Nappa leather upholstery
  • Metal-weave dashboard trim
  • Sports steering wheel
  • AMG floor mats

Prefering his cars to come with four disc brakes, independent rear suspension, and manual transmission, Kon prioritizes mechanical sophistication over outward appeal. Admires cars built to exceed the sum of their parts and appreciates vehicles engineered with integrity.
