BMW G29 Z4 sDrive30i "Malaysia Spec” Previewed, RM456,800

Just three months ago, BMW Malaysia surprised many of us during the launch of the G20 3-Series when it previewed the upcoming G29 Z4. However, the unit that was shown to us was a left-hand drive pre-production sample of the M40i variant which will not be sold here.

The variant which we will actually be getting is the one you’re looking at right now – the right-hand drive Z4 sDrive30i, which was on display completely undisguised during the M Track Day event at the Sepang International Circuit last weekend.

From what we can see, key exterior features of the Z4 sDrive30i, which has been open for booking since May, includes chromed diamond kidney grilles and silver wheels, instead of the blacked out ones we’ve been seeing in pictures all this while. In terms of colours, there are four choices - San Francisco Red, Misano Blue, Black Sapphire, and also Alpine White.

Inside, the Z4 has a generous dose of leather upholstery with contrasting stitching, giving the car a luxurious, yet sporty feel. Equipment wise, there is the latest version of BMW’s Live Cockpit Pro instrument panel, and the 12.3-inch central display like the other new models in the stable.

Under the hood, the Z4 sDrive30i gets a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 258 PS and 400 Nm of maximum torque, which is paired with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission.

The powertrain package allows the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, and clock a top speed of 250 km/h.

Yet to be launched officially, the Z4 sDrive30i, which will be the sole variant offered in Malaysia, comes with a recommended retail price of RM456,800.
