Honda WR-V Makes Global Debut in Brazil

Honda has officially taken the wraps off its latest crossover – the WR-V, at the ongoing 2016 Sao Paolo International Motor Show in Brazil.

Destined only for the South American markets for time being, the ‘Winsome Runabout Vehicle’ is actually based on the Jazz, and sits beneath the CR-V and the HR-V in the company’s product portfolio.

From what we can see, the WR-V is basically a raised and more rugged version of the Jazz with exterior features like halogen headlamps with LED DRLs, a chromed grille, skid plates, roof rails, and what looks like 16-inch alloy wheels.

Issao Mizoguchi, the president and director of Honda Brazil said that the WR-V is a result of the company’s research on what customers want in South America.

“Introduction of this all-new WR-V is a testament to Honda’s commitment to the South American market, and we will continue to deliver more products unique to Honda that pleases our customers,” said Mizoguchi.

There has not been any announcement on the car’s technical or interior details, but our guess is that it will be powered by the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine as the Jazz.

But what is certain is that the WR-V will be going for sale in Brazil in the first half of 2017, followed by other South American markets.
