Indonesia's Electric Company Guarantees Supply For Blue Bird's EV Taxi Fleet

Indonesia’s state-owned electricity company PLN has guaranteed electricity supply for the operation of Blue Bird’s EV taxi fleet.

According to an announcement by Blue Bird, the company has allocated Rp 40 billion to purchase 30 EVs and they plan to build more charging stations.

Blue Bird director Adrianto Djokosoetono told kontan.co.id that they intend to build a few more charging stations that could be shared with private cars. These additional charging stations will complement their existing stations.

PLN Western Java business director Haryanto WS added that PLN and Blue Bird signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last year on the supply of electricity to charging stations owned by Blue Bird.

Part of the agreement will see PLN setting aside 40,000 watts to guarantee a smooth electricity supply for the charging stations. That aside, PLN has also given Blue Bird a 50% discount for upgrading their power supply to the charging stations.

Adrianto added that Blue Bird plans to operate 2,000 EVs in 2025. He also said that the 30 new EVs, which consists of 25 BYD e6 and 5 Tesla Model X 75D, will serve as a reference for future EV operations.
