KLIMS 2018: Citroen DS7 Crossback Previewed Ahead Of 2019 Launch

Naza Euro Motors, the official distributor of DS Automobiles models in Malaysia has previewed the Citroen DS7 Crossback at the ongoing 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (2018 KLIMS) ahead of its local debut next year.

First unveiled at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show, the DS7 Crossback is based on Groupe PSA’s EMP2 platform that also underpins other products such as the Peugeot 308 and 5008 SUV.

The Crossback features several DS aesthetic highlights – at the front, the vertical DS Wings features a newly-designed diamond-shaped radiator grille, with the DS emblem at its centre, set in a hexagonal frame. The DS7 Crossback features full-LED headlamps and uniquely designed full-LED tailamps which feature a 3D diamond-like signature.

The preview unit wore the “DS Performance Line” badge which adds 19-inch “Beijing” diamond-cut alloys wheels.

The diamond theme is continues on the inside as well, with much of the intricate detailing of the dashboard components and switchgear. The DS7 Crossback also features the same ‘joystick’ gearknob as the upcoming Peugeot 508 sedan. A full digital instrument cluster works in tandem with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit replete with a wireless charging dock. Other notable highlights are a 14-speaker Focal Electra sound system and an analog clock made by B.R.M.

There’s no confirmation yet on the powerplant of the DS7 Crossback. In other markets DS7 Crossback is offered with one of two 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine options, producing 180 hp and 215 hp respectively. The engine is mated exclusively to an 8-speed automatic that was co-developed by Groupe PSA and Aisin.

Naza Euro Motors has yet to release prices of the DS7, but from the product brochures, there are three colour options – Platinum Grey, Absolute Red, and the preview unit’s Nera Black. The DS7 Crossback comes with a 5-year or 120,000 km manufacturer’s warranty (whichever comes first), and a three-year roadside assistance service.
